2010 Michigan Steelheaders Challenge - May 22, 2010


To help celebrate and dedicate the Holland Fish Cleaning Station that was officially opened 9/2/2009, the Holland Steelheaders are sponsoring what is hoped to be the First Annual Michigan Steelheaders Challenge. The entry fee for the tournament is $40.00 per boat, $10 for big fish entry is optional. One hundred percent of the entry fees will be paid out in winnings minus any expenses incurred by the Holland Steelheaders plus the big fish payout. At least one current Michigan Steelheader must be on-board during the tournament. If you are not a current member, you may join via the entry form.

Fishing period: 7:00am to 1:00pm; there is no run time, but you must be at weigh-in no later than 2:30PM. No fishing allowed before the tournament on the day of the tournament. Boats can only depart and re-enter the Holland Port and fish can be brought to the weigh-in by car or by boat. The weigh-in will be at the Lake Macatawa DNR launch overflow parking lot fish cleaning station on Ottawa Beach road. The scoring system is ten points per fish and one point per pound. All DNR possession and size limits apply. There is a 9-rod limit and two lines per rod. The fish limit is 12. Species are limited to Salmon and Trout. The first 12 legal fish boated must be weighed-in; no sorting.

Tournament control is on channel 19. A go tournament will be announced at 6:00AM regarding a go tournament, weather permitting. If shortened due to weather, 2 hours will constitute a complete tournament. If canceled due to weather, the tournament will not be re-scheduled. Entry moneys will be refunded. There is no restriction on communication between boats during the tournament. Running gunnel to gunnel with any boat during the tournament is not allowed. All fish must be legally caught.

First place: 35% plus trophy
Second place: 25%
Third place: 15%
Fourth place: 10%
Fifth place: 5%
